YouTube - What They Don't Tell You
O is for Organic

"Word-of-mouth marketing is a crucial component of organic growth…" David Rusenko

My AtoZ theme this year is my YouTube journey with my new fiction channel, and all that I have learned - plus some free fiction - scroll down to the embedded vid for that.

Don't buy YouTube subscribers or use stupid tricks to fool people into subscribing to your channel.

In both cases, it won't work.

Bought subscribers do not watch videos or engage with the channel, so they are useless, except to get over the monetization threshold, and YouTube will delete all the fake ones anyway.

Subscribers who are tricked into subscribing by content that doesn't represent the channel won't stay and won't engage once they figure it out. There is nothing wrong with the odd video that does not fit the usual content if there is a good reason for doing it, but trying to pretend that is what vids are usually about will backfire in the end.

Organic growth to create a community who want to be there for our content is the only stable way of maintaining a channel and gaining a loyal audience. As I've mentioned before, YouTube is a community and sometimes the fast route is a disastrous one.

Have you had the emails and DMs offering to sell followers for whatever social media platform you happen to be on?

  1. Number of subscribers to some channels often surprise me. May be they buy too like u told - good to know you tube deletes fake subscribes

    1. YouTube have many tricks up their sleeve, but so do the scammers. It's against YouTube guidelines to buy views or subscribers, so people who do it too much can get their channel deleted too. But sometimes it's hard to tell the scam accounts from the simple bots, which no one can do anything about having follow them

  2. I didn't even realize one could buy YouTube subscribers. I have subscribed to a lot of various YouTube channels but I don't necessarily watch everything that comes out on them. Not enough hours in the day sometimes :)

    1. The moment I launched my channel I had at least five contacts offering to sell me subscribers. Same when I started using Instagram in earnest.
Me too! So much to watch, so few hours in the day 😂. I am on a bit of a Time Team kick at the moment - watch one while I eat my lunch.

  4. I'd rather have a tiny number of subscribers and regular viewers than a bunch of fake subscribers I only got with money.
