My AtoZ theme this year is my YouTube journey with my new fiction channel, and all that I have learned - plus some free fiction - scroll down to the embedded vid for that.

Have I found any bugs in YouTube? Only one that really confused me.

I have, on occasion received an email telling me I have a comment on a video and then have not been able to find it in YouTube studio (the place where we upload our videos) or on the video in question.

In the back end I tried turning off filters and rearranging things, but nothing showed up.

Then I went to the video live of YouTube and rather than sorting the comments by "Top Comments", I sorted them by "Newest First". Low and behold, there were my missing comments. I have no idea why this might be, except for the fact that one of the missing comments was not complimentary and the other could have been interpreted as not being nice (even though it was), so I suspect algorithm shenanigans.

There is, however, one really annoying bug I have discovered when sharing my videos, which might save people a little time.

When sharing from YouTube to Twitter, the tweet editor comes up partially filled in with content created from the title and URL of our video. This is all well and good, but it truncates the subject line of the vid, and we often want to add extra content to increase engagement with our tweets, so we have to change it.

There is, however, a bug in Twitter's front end when creating these tweets: on more than one function when creating a tweet, it reverts back to the originally created partial tweet losing all of our edits. This is very, very annoying!

This happens when:

  1. Adding in ALT text for an image for the tweet.
  2. Picking the time to schedule a Tweet

The solution is simple, but needs to be formed into a habit, so I always create a tweet in the same way:

  1. Share from YouTube
  2. Edit the tweet and add my own content
  3. Copy the whole tweet into memory
  4. Add the image to the tweet
  5. Pick the time for the tweet to be scheduled
  6. Paste the tweet back into the edit box
  7. Hit the schedule button

Anyone else run into any YouTube or social media sharing bugs? Or what is your least favourite real world bug e.g. cockroach?
